About the Client

FireStock is a mission-driven startup founded by a veteran firefighter. The goal was to replace manual logistics — paper sheets, whiteboards, and informal IOUs — with a structured digital tool built specifically for first responders.

Challenge

Firefighters needed a solution that eliminated financial friction and inventory blind spots without adding administrative overhead. The design objective was to build a high-performance "noir" interface that handles complex logistical data while remaining intuitive under the stress of active duty.

Wireframes

Structural wireframes were built to map screens, prioritize content hierarchy, and validate user flows before any visual direction was applied.

Design Concept

Two distinct design directions were explored, both using a "noir" aesthetic with high-contrast elements. Concept #1 was selected for its stronger functional hierarchy and professional tool-like feel. The amber-orange palette was preferred over blue as it directly resonates with the firefighting context.

High-Fidelity Design

The final interface moves from conceptual wireframes to a rigorous functional design system. Every element is engineered so the "noir" aesthetic enhances rather than compromises usability — delivering a professional tool that remains intuitive under pressure.

Onboarding Flow

The onboarding focuses on rapid integration. Users sync with their department and station, select their rank, and connect their Venmo handle — enabling automated financial accountability from the very first login.

Home Page

The home screen serves as a high-performance operations dashboard. It surfaces a live Kitty Fund balance and low-stock alerts at a glance, with primary actions — photo-based inventory entry and grocery list generation — placed within immediate reach.

Inventory

The inventory page eliminates blind purchasing and redundant stock. A live database supports low-resistance data entry, while an automated low-stock alert system triggers when items reach a critical threshold.

Finances

The finances page replaces the whiteboard with a live digital ledger. It tracks the Kitty Fund, monitors unpaid dues, and allows managers to send instant reminders — removing the social friction of manual debt collection.

Meals

The meals page bridges inventory data with daily station life. Users browse recipes, cross-reference ingredients against live stock levels, and generate precise grocery lists in one tap — with all costs transparently tracked through the Kitty Fund.

Profile

The profile page is a personal command center where firefighters manage their rank, shift schedule, Venmo integration, and notification preferences — keeping every team member synchronized with the station ecosystem.

Notifications

The notifications page delivers critical updates that require immediate attention without creating unnecessary noise — acting as the operational pulse of the entire platform.

Design System

A consistent design system unifies colors, typography, spacing, and reusable UI components across the product. Defined interaction states ensure predictable behavior, while the structured component library supports efficient scaling and future development.

Result

FireStock transformed chaotic station logistics into a high-performance digital ecosystem. The "noir" low-friction interface eliminated Kitty Fund leakages, reduced inventory waste through data-synced meal planning, and removed the social friction of debt collection through automated notifications.
